News Channel 10 Summer Celebration

News Channel 10 Summer Celebration Comes to Dalhart July 23rd in Downtown Dalhart

News Channel 10 out of Amarillo will be in Dalhart for their 2009 Summer Celebration on Thursday July 23rd. Channel 10 will be broadcasting the 6 and 10'clock news live from the Dallam County Courthouse here in Dalhart with food, fun and prizes. Several local businesses and organizations are joining the celebration. There will be a variety of free items and some local non-profit organizations are taking this opportunity to hold a fund raiser. Entertainment will be provided by KXIT & R & T Music Mix to keep the celebration going. For a complete list of booths visit click here.

Adding to the celebration is the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department who will be hosting the First Annual Water Polo Championship. The first 20 teams to register will be included in a double elimination championship challenge. Teams must consist of 2 adults (18 & older) and one adult alternate. Teams compete against each other with fire hoses to see which one can more the suspended ball across the wire. The one moving the ball furthest away from them in the two minute challenge is determined the winner. Water is included in this challenge so spectators and contestants will have the opportunity to cool off some the summer heat. The Amarillo Star vocal competition will be a part of the festivities for the evening. The first 6 vocalist to turn in completed applications, media release forms and the entry fee at the stage the evening of the event can audition live. Live Auditions will take place at 7:15 pm & 8:00 pm. Additional entry forms, fee’s and audition CD’s can be submitted that evening for inclusion in the contest. 1st Annual Water Polo Championship to be held during News Channel 10 Summer Celebration event.

One activity being planned for the event this year is the 1st Annual Water Polo Championship being sponsored by the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department. We are seeking businesses who would like to sponsor a team for this event to challenge the fire department and the News Channel 10 crew. We will take the first 20 teams that sign up and for a double elimination bracket to crown a champion. Anyone interested in sponsoring a team should download the attached entry form and return it to the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce office.

Safety Rules for Water Polo

1) When the ball is in position and time keepers says GO or shoots the gun, nozzles are to be brought up in a manner so that they do not strike opponent in the face. If this happens, you are automatically disqualified.

2)When a team is advancing on the ball or during the contest they fall or drop the nozzle, the water will be shut off and they are disqualified.

3)If there is an equipment failure, the ball will be reset and the contest started over.

4) At the end of the 2 minute time period, whoever has the advantage is the winner.
