Across Texas to help promote health & wellness for
Dalhart. Kick off event is planned for March 12,

Mileage Equivalents
Walk Across Texas is a 32 week walking and or biking
(see conversion sheet) program for teams of eight
people. Team sponsorships are $100 per team (team
members can sponsor themselves or can be sponsored by
any local business.) Businesses can sponsor more
than 1 team. Participants walk and or bike for 32 weeks
in teams of eight (members do not have to walk or bike
together) One member needs to be the team captain.
Members of a team combine their individual mileage each
week. Teams compete to see which one reaches the
equivalent of the 1,000 mile destination. Those teams
completing the 4 bi-monthly goals will receive prizes
and those completing the program and achieving the 1,000
mile goal will go into a drawing for the grand prize!

* The Kick Off Activity is Friday, March 12, 2010.
Everyone who wants to participate is invited. We will
have extra packets, free pedometers furnished by the
local Texas Co-operative Extension Office, and each team
can order their free “I’m Walking to South Padre………..
And These Folks are Sponsoring Me!” t-shirt.
* The hospital will be offering free blood tests for
all participants at the beginning and again at the end
of the contest.
* The first day to start logging miles is Friday,
March 12, 2010. * Form a team of eight people (no one
under 19 yrs of age) * Appoint one person on the team to
be the team captain and Name Your Team
* Everyone should complete the Individual
Registration Form from your packet and turn into your
team captain (extra forms can be printed off the
web-site)
* Team Captains should complete the Team Registration
form from his or her packet and bring the form along
with the individual registration forms and sponsorship
check to the kick-off Activity March 12th or mail the
forms and check to the above address.
* Everyone should keep track of his or her daily
mileage on the Individual Mileage Log from the packet
and e-mail, call or fax the total for the week to his or
her team captain by Monday of the following week.
* Captains should enter the individual team member
totals on the Team Captains log and fax or mail the form
to Glenda at the above address no later than Wednesday
evening following the 8 week period.
* Totals will be entered on the website as soon as
received.
* Everyone can check how their team is doing compared
to others
* The 1st Don’t Give Up Activity with bi-monthly
prizes will be held on May 14th! |
