I understand that if Dalhart residents shift an additional percentage of our year-around spending from national chains to local businesses, we would create millions in new economic activity in our local economy every year. That is because independent retailers re-spend two to three times more of each sales dollar locally than their chain competitors, resulting in more jobs and community benefits.
